Pretty good academics
Great environment although some of the staff seem not to care.
Now a D3 school in athletics- no scholarships
Pfeiffer is exactly what you make it. It is a family away from home and a really good support system. The housing director is actually not that bad and our teachers really understand the concept of being a person and not a number.
Great student-teacher ratio
Got my MBA here. Very good experience. Faculty was good, friendly, and helpful. Learned a lot and more than met my expectations.
(But college is about learning, not sports)
Dorms are very small...
Pfeiffer sell itself on being small, close, and caring. It is small but the close and caring not so much. Faculty and academic advisers fall short in many categories. In the age of ed tech many professors do not post grades or have any method of giving feedback tot he student where their grades stand until the mid term and final grade?!? The academic advisers do not help or advocate for the students in any way shape or form they are there only to sign you up for your classes. don't expect to get any help or guidance on finances as the business and finance department leave it all up to you and you are stuck doing ALL of the leg work. I noticed certain sports at Pfeiffer are treated like gods, and others are almost ignored. This I am sure is due to the fact that the Athletic Director is the head coach for a specific sport. The freshman dorms SUCK! Finally, be ready to be nickeled and dimed to death!! For a school that charges $40,000 per year you would think that includes all of your fees...think again! E learning fee, orientation fees, and dorm "damage" fees (for someone leaving the door open (everyone gets charged $5 each time it happens...even though the doors were broken most of the time and the college maintenance crew would also leave them open! Once past all of that nonsense the campus is quite beautiful and secluded. There is very little to do other than study and attend on campus activities. On the weekend it was fun to explore Charlotte with classmates.
